Get Rid of Dog Fleas Once and For All

Author: Cat Tobin

To get rid of dog fleas it is necessary that you first treat your home. Begin by thoroughly scouring the areas where your dog sleeps and relaxes. Be sure to wash all bedding in your home, including your dog's, and place it in a hot dryer. You should then vacuum every surface possible, including, furniture, rugs, carpets, and drapes. If possible, it is also strongly recommended that you wax all applicable floors. This will increase your chances of killing any stray fleas, as well as their eggs.

If you don't have the time, or your own efforts prove not to be effective, you can also hire an exterminator to get rid of dog fleas in your home. You will probably need two sessions to fully eradicate the fleas, one in the spring and the other in the summer. If you live in a warm and humid climate, you may want to consider monthly treatments.

Once you have finished treating your home, you should focus on treating your dog. The most effective way to get rid of fleas on your dog is to use an insecticide dip. You should repeat the flea dip twice per month until your dog is free of these blood sucking parasites. For further treatment, use a spray on short haired dogs or a powder on long haired dogs in between dips.
